When the Destination is Known, but the Road Isn't

It's hard to write when you don't know what happens next.

That's been my main problem as I write chapter 25 of my book. Sure, I know how the chapter ends, and I know what the protagonist is supposed to be going through. What I don't know is exactly what I'll do to him, exactly how to portray it, and exactly how it will all transpire.

You'd think I'd be reluctant about making my beloved protagonist suffer, but I'm not. Right now, no one other than him is being hurt, so there's really no unnecessary suffering going on. I'm actually curious about how this will affect my character. I can't wait to get him out of it so I can see the results on his psyche.

Let's find out, shall we?
